Finding Freedom in Honesty and Grace

There is a kind of truth that wounds, and a kind of truth that frees.

For a long time, I thought truth had to be sharp to be real – something you brace yourself for, something that exposes every flaw. But Scripture paints a different picture. Tells us that truth and love are not opposites. They are companions.

” Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth” – 1 Corinthians 13:6

Real love doesn’t ask us to pretend. It doesn’t ask us to shrink, minimize, or stay silent to keep the peace.

Real love rejoices when truth is spoken – not because truth is comfortable, but because truth is clean. Truth clears the fog and brings alignment. Truth makes room for healing.

And then there’s this: ” Speak the truth in love…” Ephesians 4:15

Not truth as a weapon. Not truth as a performance. Not truth as a reaction

Truth in love – the kind that is steady, grounded, and rooted in who God is, not in who people expect me to be.

I’m learning that when I speak truth from a grounded place, I’m not trying to win an argument or prove a point. I’m simply choosing to stand in the light. And standing in the light is an act of love – for myself, for others, and for the God who leads me gently.

There is a quiet courage in that. A courage that doesn’t shout, a courage that doesn’t rush. A courage that doesn’t abandon itself to keep someone else comfortable.

Truth and Love walk together, and then they do, they bring freedom.

Today, I’m choosing that kind of truth – the kind that aligns with love, the kind that honors God, and the kind that keeps me grounded in who I am becoming. Because truth without love is harsh, and love without truth is hollow. But truth with love – that’s where the healing begins.
